Just Magnolia Sketch

Sorry about the little scraps of paper in the corner. oops Anyway...Just Magnolia has a great sketch this week. These are the things that really push me to think outside the box. I've always felt color was more my strong suit (mostly because of the type of job I have), but sometimes color just doesn't push you, kwim? lol Here is how I used the sketch to go beyond what I "normally" would do.

1. The sketch calls for 5 elements at the bottom - I used my bow as the 5th piece.

2. Used one of my punches to create a little hill for Tilda. Also used my stencil cloud (still trying to perfect those clouds)

3. My little sentiment is alpha stickers that I've had for over 6 yrs!!! (blush)

4. Giving up my last piece of this gorgeous ribbon!!! I must find more!

Stamps - Happy Tilda

Papers - Memory Makers pp and SU cs

Ink - Memento and Copics/Prismacolor markers

Misc. - bling, Prima flowers, Nestabilities, punches, stencil, ribbon, stickers, and pop-up dots

Spring

When you get new stamps, do you bust them open and start creating? LOL I do. This set arrived Tues. night and even though my coughing fits were still being a pain, I couldn't stand not taking them for a test run. This is the new spring kit at All That Scraps. You get lots of accessories and boy images too. There are cute little butterflies with the set, so it's going to be used for Rachel's cupcake challenge this week!

Just Magnolia - Easel Card

Remind me to not attempt a Just Magnolia challenge when I've lost my voice from coughing so much. UGH! This was my 3rd attempt at coloring, but the coughing fits kept making me mess up. After some aspirin, cough syrup, and cough drops this one was ok but not great.
This week's challenge is an easel card (which I ADORE). They so fun to make and did several at Christmas. Of course, I had to bust out one of my new Magnolias from the Pirate, Prom, Princess collection.
Have a wonderful (cough-free) day!

Where my Belles 'N Whistles live

Belles N Whistles has a challenge right now to show them where your BnW stamps live! What a cute take on a challenge! You can win stamps!
Here is a close-up shot of 2 BnW cards that I made recently. Love making a few cards that kinda "match".

This is a little alcove in my stamp room. I put current projects here or things that are going to be mailed in the coming week.

Tania Baking loves to be in my kitchen! She is perfect for recipe cards too!! I've colored her to match my kitchen colors. So fun.

It's not easy being green

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! This is for Rachel's cupcake inspiration challenge. I don't send a lot of cards out for this holiday, but have a small stash of things that worked for this challenge. My sentiment was a gift from my pal Anna. There is Luscious Lime Smooch on the sentiment shamrock and her shoes, but I can't get it to show up. I gave up after 10 attempts. ugh! So shiny! Love me some Smooch!

CIC49

Well I almost didn't play in this challenge because too many new stamps have been arriving and none of them really worked for this week's cupcake. Then I remembered this cute digi image by Cristy Croll (hope I spelled her name right). She does a lot of things for Stamping Bella, but also has digis on Etsy!!! Not sure I got the colors right, but she sure was FUN to color. Make sure to visit Rachel and see what everyone else has come up with.

This past week was big for me in many ways. 1. I went to see Harry Connick, Jr. in Nashville and he brought me to tears. Harry is from New Orleans and was one of the hosts of the telethon for Katrina. His face was in such pain that night on tv. He loves that city so much. Halfway during the concert he talked about the Super Bowl. He was in Titan country, but the minute he said "Super Bowl" most people yelled out "Who Dat" and a little girl came to the edge of the stage and handed him beads. He lifted her up and gave her a kiss. AHHHHHHH!!!
Then he explained to us how much it means to the people. I won't go into the entire story, but he said that when people were giving up hope, leaving the city, the only thing they still clung to was their beloved team. Being at the football games was EVERYTHING to them. He said that he sat next to a nun at the Super Bowl and she was just prayin' & prayin' (this may or may not have have actually happened) lol By the time he finished I had big tears welling up, just sitting there waiting to spill out - was I the only one? No I noticed many people wiping their eyes.
2. I have lighted my work load. Too much on my plate and it was getting the best of me, so I made the decision to resign from one of the companies I represent. Now there is more time to relax and STAMP! Woo Hoo
